Talkbooks (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Talkbooks mobile application and web platform at talkbooks.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: email address and hashed passwords (bcrypt).
  • Financial Data: expenses, income, sales, purchases, inventory, orders, payables, and receivables that you enter.
  • Chat Messages: processed in real-time by our AI. Content is not stored long-term; aggregate interaction counts are tracked for analytics.
  • Push Notification Tokens: stored to deliver device notifications.
  • Subscription Information: tier and payment status via Apple App Store and Google Play.
  • Voice Input (Optional): If you use voice input, audio is recorded on your device and sent to OpenAI's speech-to-text service (Whisper) for transcription only. Audio is not stored on our servers and is discarded immediately after transcription.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect: location data, contact lists, photos or stored audio recordings (voice input is transcribed in real time and discarded), phone numbers, device identifiers (except push tokens), browsing history, or third-party app data.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Providing and maintaining the Service.
  • Authenticating your identity.
  • Sending notifications you have opted into.
  • Transactional email communications.
  • Improving the Service through aggregate analysis (no individual data is shared).

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party providers, each with their own privacy policies:

  • AWS — infrastructure and data storage (Singapore region).
  • OpenAI — AI processing for chat interactions. Voice input audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper service for transcription only and is not stored or used for training.
  • Expo — mobile app delivery and push notifications.

5. Data Retention

  • Active accounts retain data indefinitely.
  • Free tier limits history access to 30 days (data is still stored).
  • Account deletion is permanent and irreversible.
  • Chat content is discarded after processing; it is not stored long-term.

6. Data Security

  • Passwords hashed with bcrypt.
  • All data encrypted in transit via TLS/SSL.
  • JWT-based authentication.
  • Platform-native secure storage for tokens on your device.
  • Database access restricted to authorized services only.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your data. You can control notification preferences in app settings. To exercise these rights, contact support@talkbooks.app.

8. Children's Privacy

Talkbooks is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. International Data Transfers

Our servers are located in Singapore (AWS ap-southeast-1). By using the Service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in this region.

10. Changes to This Policy

Updates to this policy will be communicated via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
